From this pages you can view the study, research and historical reconstruction by Rosa Anna Cadau, regular holder of Domus Maiore, a firm founded in 2002 thanks to the plan “Cultural goods” she offered to the Technical Office of Ploaghe Town Council, financed by the Sardinian Region through the law 37/98, art. 19, whose goal is to show and revaluate the historical, archaeological and artistic goods in Ploaghe.

With this work, through a rather precise succession, the following points have been developed:

1. Recover of the old place-names of the ancient town of Ploaghe, by analyzing the sources kept in its Town Historical Archive.

2. Bettering the Spano Art Gallery in Ploaghe by indexing the portraits exposed in the Oratory of Rosary in Italian, English and Sardinian language. Biography of the famous Ploaghese scholar Giovanni Spano and brief historical and architectural notes of the before-mentioned Oratory.

3. Revaluing the old graveyard of Ploaghe through the historical description of this old site, the indexing of the tombstones and their captions in Italian, English and Sardinian language.

4. Organization and fruibility of old Historical Archive of Ploaghe through the arranging, the inventary, the computerized filing and the creation of a database about the oldest paper documents, the great part of which is hand written.

5. Creating some touristic and cultural tours in Ploaghe territory. Those are:

· an urban itinerary;

· a medieval itinerary;

· an archaeological itinerary.

A fourth itinerary has been created too, and it has been thought to be used by old and disabled people. It is formed by the urban itinerary and two nuragic sites: nuraghe Attentu and nuraghe Don Micheli. Those two nuraghes are actually inside the town and so can be easily reached even by disabled people.

Another important phase, in creating this work, was the translation of it in Sardinian-Logudorese language, Ploaghe idiom, as suggested by the law 26/97 about “Promoting and revaluing Sardinian culture and language”, and in English. Thus we tried somehow to suggest to get back to our roots and, meanwhile, to watch ahead.

The Sardinian translation has been cured by the professor Giovanna Maria Ledda, while the English one by Antonio Marcìa, who also made this site and the CD-ROM.
