QUIRRIU ALTU included modern Mazzini Street, Siotto Street, the upper part of Rome street, the first part of Amsicora and Tempio street and a stretch of Queen Margaret Street (see Plans).
This was the most important district of Ploaghe because inside there was CORTE DE PALATU, modern Tola square, where the palace of Laconi marquis, baron of Ploaghe, was found. This was a very lively centre, and very crowded of people too: in the palace rooms baron’s superintendents administered justice. The building was later used as district jail. The Quirriu, though, could also be bound to a person surname. On 15th March, 1852, in fact, the Town Mayor of Ploaghe, Palmerio Fadda, ordered mister Cunco Giuseppe (collector of Florinas District), to pay, from the funds of the same town, the wet-nurse Falchi Maria Salvagina from Ploaghe with six new liras and 72 cents for breeding and dressing the illegitimate Maria Salvatora Quirriu Altu. So the poor foundling had taken her surname from the district where she had been found: Quirriu Altu.

PIATTA (square) indicated just the part of town included within CORTILE DE CHEIA and the little street called Regina Margherita street and the stretch first of Giovanni Spano street up to Queen Helen alley.
CORTILE DE CHEIA (church court) is now Saint Peter’s Square.
SU QUIRRIU DE SANTA RUGHE (District of Holy Cross)
This district, whose name is to be referred to the oratory of Santa Croce, went from the homonymous church, from one side, to Funtana Manna, to the other. In the plan of the ancient town this name-place was not reported because in most of the documents consulted it is called Su quirriu de santa rughe or de Funtana Manna and particularly LODÈ NEIGHBOURHOOD (su bighinadu de Lodè)
SU QUIRRIU DE GIOSSO O SU PADRU DE GIOSSO (Low District)
It represented the outskirts of the town, quirrios de Crastos de Sardinia also included.
SU QUIRRIU DE CRASTOS DE SARDINIA (District of Stones of Sardinia)
In the inner parts of this district there was an un-located street, Ardareddu. We do not know exactly its location, all we know is that on 3rd March, 1855, in the locality named Crastos, Ploaghe District Judge, Pasquale Soddu, and the two bricklayers Pasquale Pinna and Matteo Sanna Piu met to delimit and confirm the surface of two house plants required by Matteo Fiori from Ploaghe. The land surface, about 39 square meters, was located in Crastos, in front of the street called Ardareddu.

SOS QUIRRIOS DE CRASTOS DE SARDINIA went from today’s middle town towards Domaiore (DOMUS MAIORE or DOMO MAIORE)
CRASTOS DE SARDINIA is modern Luigi Camboni street.

QUIRRIU DE SANTA CADERINA (District of Saint Catherine)

The name of this district refers to Saint Catherine’s church, parish of Muskianu, a medieval village abandoned before 1425, that was behind the modern building of Saint Peter’s parish church. The most important centre of this district was represented by Sos Ulimos (The Elms), today De Castro Square. This place-name lets one understand that the area must have been rich of elms.
SU QUIRRIU DE SANTA CADERINA included the area surrounding DE CASTRO square
SOS ULIMOS was inside SU QUIRRIU DE SANTA CADERINA and is modern De Castro square.
SU QUIRRIU DE SANTU MATTEU O SU MONTE (District of Saint Mathew or The Mount)

SU QUIRRIU DE SANTU MATTEU O SU MONTE went from Mazzini street, Siotto lane and the first stretch of Martini street down to Saint Mathew’s church. Now Siotto Lane, Siotto street, Saint Mathew street, Saint Mathew lane, the first part of Martini street (called GARDEN) and the first stretch of Brigata Sassari street are included in this ancient district.

As one can understand, this town zone took its name from Saint Mathew’s little church, now outside town, built before 1649 and set along the southern volcanic layer of the hill which has the same name.
SU QUIRRIU DE SANTU TIMIDEI (District of Saint Timothy)

SU QUIRRIU DE SANTU TIMIDEI went from Eleonora d’Arborea street along Roma and Arrio streets down to Zachary street, including modern Don Felis street and lane, Saint Timothy street and church and the second stretch of Eleonora d’Arborea street (see Plans).

SU QUIRRIU DE SANTU VALENTINU (District of Saint Valentine)

SU QUIRRIU DE SANTU VALENTINU went from Queen Helen lane to Eleonora d’Arborea street, Rome street and Minerva street, including modern Valverde square, the first stretch of Queen Eleonora d’Arborea street, Arrio street, the second stretch of Minerva Street, Queen Helen street and lane (see Plans).
PALU VIRDE is the modern Valverde square.
SU QUIRRIU DE CUMBENTU (District of Monastery)
SU QUIRRIU DE CUMBENTU took its name from the monastery of Capuchin, joined to Saint Anthony’s church, built up in 1659. It contained the zone surrounding the monastery (first stretch of Minerva street, Iosto Satta street, Monastery street, Oberdam street, Sauro street, Pietro Salis street), PARIS DE CUMBENTU and the meadow of SA TANCA DE SU CANONIGU (CALONIGU).

PARIS DE CUMBENTU is now the Monastery square.
SA TANCA DE SU CANONIGU (Land of the Canonical) was delimited by the modern Father Nicolò street, Laredu street, Pietro Salis street, Armando Diaz street.
