Examination of the town and location of its place-names

In modern age the town is set around the churches of Saint Mathew, Saint Valentine, Saint Timothy. News about the town start to show during XVII-XIX centuries. So we know that the village was divided in Chirrios or Contradas and the house identification was based upon sos bighinados and sas carrelas. There were no number streets, thus the house had to be identified with in carrela de…, su de…, a costazu de… (in the street of…, near to…, next to…).

The Chirrios were the districts which took their name from the churches they were around or, being there not, from the geographical point they were set in the village (Altu, De giosso, high, low).

The main chirrios were: Quirriu Altu, Quirriu de Giosso, Quirriu de Crastos de Sardinia, Quirriu de Santa Caderina, Quirriu de Santu Matteu, Quirriu de Santu Valentinu, Quirriu de Santu Timidei, Quirriu de Santa Rughe, Quirriu de Cumbentu.
